Dan is a professional mountain sport photographer and athlete with more than 30 years experience running and climbing in the Sierra. Together with Janine, the couple lived in Bishop for nearly ten years before moving to Switzerland. Along with Kim Strom, the team also produced Run the Alps Switzerland and ALPSinsight, the trail running guide and resource to the Swiss Alps. Dan’s photography work has taken him running and climbing in mountain ranges all over the world, from the Himalaya to Iceland to Patagonia, and all throughout Europe. He still calls the Sierra “home.”

Originally from Switzerland, Janine is a professional mountain sport photographer and digital imaging specialist at PatitucciPhoto. As a lover of maps and geography, Janine is the designer of the runs in the Sierra Trail Runs guidebook. Previously, she designed all the runs in the team’s Swiss Alps guidebook, Run the Alps Switzerland, as well as the Alps’ Via Valais multi-day trail running tour.

From climbing 8000 meter peaks and Patagonian spires to working as a rock and alpine guide in the Sierra, Hjördis has a life-long, broad mountain background. A Bishop local, she’s traveled and photographed in mountain ranges all over the world, and has recently discovered the freedom of running through her home range with a much lighter pack.

Kim is a mountain runner and cancer survivor. Since 2016, she has worked with PatitucciPhoto as a writer, photographer, athlete, and model. She co-founded both ALPSinsight : The Alps Mountain Sport & Trail Running Resource and the Via Valais, and co-authored the Run the Alps Switzerland guidebook. Her feature stories have appeared in Patagonia's The Cleanest Line, Runner’s World, and Trail Runner as well as numerous outdoor blogs and other publications.

Layout Design by McKenzie Long, a writer, graphic designer, and rock climber living in the Sierra Nevada. She has co-written two climbing guidebooks.

  • Kris Hohag 
    Equipped with a pen, gifted with a voice, Kris Hohag, aka Kwa-Z, is an artist, father, and educator in the Eastern Sierra. A citizen of the Bishop Paiute tribe, and a descendent of the Mono Lake Kutzadika Paiute Tribe, he founded Legendary Skies to offer local indigenous cultural ecotourism and promote tribal business leadership. Legendary Skies Enterprises works to promote wellness, prosperity and sustainability for all indigenous communities, with a particular focus on youth.
  • Scott Johnston   
    Scott is one of the founders and head coach at Uphill Athlete, the foremost training and education resource for mountain sport athletes. Along with Steve House, Scott co-wrote two of the most important books for mountain sport athletes; Training for the New Alpinism: A Manual for the Climber as Athlete and Training for the Uphill Athlete, along with Kilian Jornet.
  • Allan Pietrasanta 
    Allan has been enjoying the delights of the Sierra Nevada for over 50 years during all four seasons of the sun. His hiking, skiing, running, climbing and picnicking adventures have taken him all over the range. He is always looking forward to the next opportunity to get out and spend time above timberline.
  • Karen and Howie Schwartz
    Howie and Karen are both enthusiastic trail runners and mountain athletes who have lived together in Bishop, California since 2001. Howie is a UIAGM mountain guide and an owner/manager of Sierra Mountain Guides, Inc. Karen was the mayor of Bishop in 2018 and 2022, and is manager of their business, Sage to Summit, a mountain shop and climbing gym on Main Street. 
  • Ann Piersall Logan
    Ann is the artist behind AnnieP Fine Art and Darn Fine Hats. She lives in Bishop, California, on the eastside of the beautiful Sierra Nevada. Ann’s art is inspired by the colors, geometry, and adventures of the places that she loves.
